2021-2022

The Girls of Steel InvenTeam is inventing the BuzzBandSM, a wearable fitness device designed to meet the needs of youth with autism who are facing sensory, physical, and emotional challenges associated with exercise. The BuzzBand applies external sensory stimuli through tandem vibrations and rhythmic beeps, assisting users in maintaining motivation, focus, and consistency.  Developed as an adjustable armband, the BuzzBand is portable, lightweight, comfortable, and weather-resistant, allowing it to function in any setting (e.g. physical fitness classes, schools, gyms, outdoors, or homes). Ultimately, our device expands accessibility to fitness, leading to more independent and confident lifestyles.
