April BuzzBand Update

This April has had us buzzing with excitement!

On April 6th, we had our first BuzzBand outreach event.  We set up a booth at the Carnegie Science Center’s 18+ Sensory Sensitive Evening with a couple of our prototypes, posters and bee pins!  Many families showed interest and gave positive feedback on how the BuzzBand would work for their needs.  We are so grateful to the Carnegie Science Center and everyone that participated. Our team is already working on analyzing and applying the feedback.

From April 20th-23th we took BuzzBand to the FIRST Robotics Championship on behalf of the Girls of Steel. Our BuzzBand team members brought a prototype and our new pop-up poster to share with other teams and STEM experts from around the world!

We’ve made progress on our second prototype as well!  We now have two inner sleeve casings and two outer sleeve casings to work with.  Some team members are also taking an app design course through Lemelson-MIT.  We’re hoping to apply what we learn from the course to create a partner app for BuzzBand. In addition we’ve also been researching ideal battery placement by taking apart toys and examining their battery placement.

Finally, we are preparing to attend EurekaFest in Boston from June 13-16. Please join us in our fundraising efforts by donating to the link below. We can’t wait to participate and share the BuzzBand with an audience!
