The team has been working to finish the last major components of the weir and the housing, before our deadline with the UVM Proctor research facility next month, when the need 10 working products. The key questions have been answered. does it work? the answer is yes. Now our job is to iron out the fine details to make the product as accurate and efficient as possible. As for the Weir itself, there have been at least 10 different ideas thrown around involving shape, size and how it will sit inside of the stainless steel housing. Some of these ideas involve legs that clip it inside or fastening it to the pipe itself. we want to find the most secure way to attach it so we retain as much sap as possible and we obtain an accurate reading.

Illeigh has been teaching other members of the team how to set up the circuit boards that will power the LCD screen on the weir. those of us who were unfamiliar were given a lesson in the 3D modeling software so more hands could be working at one time.

We are looking forward to sugaring season, which is just around the corner, so we can finally test the meter in the field.
