Our Second Blog! (December)

Meeting #7 - 12.4.23

Meeting:

We went over each role and responsibilities of the leads going up to the technical grant review and worked more on our invention designs!

Updates:

Mr. Wajahat JadoOn has agreed to mentor and help us in developing some technical aspects of the design. We plan on having regular meetings with him.

Meeting #8 - 12.11.23

Meeting:

The team is simultaneously pursuing two design ideas. The final idea will emerge from these efforts.

  • 1st design group: We started researching what materials we will need for our design and figuring out whether we will use Arduino or Raspberry Pi. We ended up choosing Raspberry Pi, and we also decided on some functions we would like our invention to have!
  • 2nd design group: We continued to refine the design, focused on deciding reasonable  dimensions while also noting down the various limitations that our invention may have in response to those choices.

Photo order: Dr. Ahmed, Suhani, Weiran. Glass refection: Amy, Erica, Rishi. :D

Meeting #9 - 12.28.23

We chose to meet over winter break and now we are starting to plan out how we will practically build our design!

During the meeting we:

  • Worked on how the robot will move, and how a person would call the robot.
  • Continued to revise the design for better stability and support.
  • Increased weight of base to bear the weight of the user.
  • Finialized materials (and made a list of what we need to purchase).

Plans:

Suhani will be making new edits to our CAD design. We will also order the list of materials we need to start building our invention! Dr. Vivek is also in the process of making a Gantt Chart, which the team will review so we can stay on course and create the solution on schedule.

Meeting #10- 1.1.24 \(^O^)/

  • ☆.♪+:☆.♪+: HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! (link) ☆.♪+:☆.♪+:
  • Update
    • Suhani incorporated the new edits and made a new CAD design. The materials were ordered and the Gantt Chart is now made! ✺
    • The Raspberry Pi will be here on Jan 5th, so for the meantime we will work on building the physical product!
  • *✺Meeting
    • We reviewed a digital simulation on our invention with 550N (55kg). Our mentors pointed to some errors in a couple sections, so we will re-do the analysis to get a more accurate result!
    • We also started thinking of other invention countermeasures and have listed a couple ideas. *
    • Weiran will be in charge of finding a motor that fits the description needed and learning about the mechanics behind the motor that we can utilize.✺ *

We wish everyone a wonderful new year filled with good health, success, and laughter!
