Infrared Anomaly Detection System (I.A.D.S)
Electronics

Battle Creek, Michigan
2017-2018

The Infrared Anomaly Detection System (I.A.D.S.) is an aftermarket device designed to alert drivers of deer crossing the path of a vehicle of up to 500 ft. away. The deer is detected via a long-range infrared sensor and the driver is alerted through a visual display in addition to a sound alert. The sensor data is analyzed using a pre-trained object detection algorithm using both shape and temperature profiles to reduce the possibility of false-positive alerts. The infrared sensor is installed on the exterior of the vehicle. The processor and alert system is installed on the car dashboard. The entirety of this device will be powered by a 12 V accessory socket inside the vehicle.
