Stephanie Kwolek, inventor and 1999 Lemelson-MIT Lifetime Achievement Award winner, passes away at age 90.
Stephanie Kwolek won the 1999 Lemelson-MIT Lifetime Achievement Award for her technological invention of Kevlar® - one of the most widely used materials that saves countless lives. The Lemelson-MIT Program remembers her inventive achievements.
"Stephanie Kwolek's invention will continue to save the lives of first responders. She is a role model for what women can achieve in science and technology," says Joshua Schuler, executive director of the Lemelson-MIT Program.
