Calistoga High School at SXSW

Calistoga Junior/Senior High School selected as finalist for 2025 SXSW Innovation Award!
The students were one of five finalists in the Student Innovation Category. On May 8, 2025, they will present their invention at the SXSW Showcase in Austin. The device, SMART Wearable Thermoregulatory Device, is designed to keep firefighters and outdoor workers cool. Judges will be on hand to review the projects, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on March 10. Good luck, team!
The invention was a result of the Calistoga Junior/Senior High School InvenTeam and Inventing Smart Solutions class led by educator Heather Brooks. During the 2023-2024 school year, the students worked to find a problem important to them in their community and develop a technical solution to that problem.
