We are pursuing the invention of a three-part device to grow, harvest, and transport biomass, primarily algae, to recycle harmful excess nutrients in the effluent canals of shrimp farms. The device will harvest at least an average of 18.14 kg of mass a day and will eventually turn a profit by providing the biomass as shrimp feed. Each device should $50 once patented; the number of devices will vary per farmer. The system’s effluent removal will reduce eutrophication in the lagoons by 10%. Though we are currently working with the Belizean shrimp farms, this technology will be applicable in many aquaculture locations.
