Durable, efficient wave energy conversion system
Energy and Environment

Riveria Beach, Florida

The Suncoast Community High School InvenTeam will invent a simple, durable, efficient, inexpensive, and easily deployable wave energy conversion system for use in developing countries and areas devastated by natural disaster.  The wave energy conversion system will harness the power of ocean waves to charge 12V batteries.  It will be designed with no mechanical components, be waterproof and corrosion-proof, and its height will vary with the tides in order to optimize efficiency. The system can be carried by a single person and deployed from shore or boat by two people.  The estimated cost of such a system is between $200 and $300.
