Micro-scale hydroelectric water purifier
Energy and Environment
The Wildcat Water Purifier will provide more widespread access to clean water using micro-scale hydroelectric power to promote self-purification of surface water. This invention would be implemented in developing or remote areas with access to running water, such as rural Appalachia. The Wildcat Water Purifier could feasibly provide water to either a small family unit of 4 people or enlarged to serve a community of up to 100 residents. The users of such a device would spend an estimated maximum of $1000 for the device itself and an additional $300 per year on maintenance costs, including UV bulb replacements.
