Nashua High School North InvenTeam

The Nashua High School North InvenTeam invented a triple-functioning bacteria-powered battery using the metabolic processes of bacteria found in soil or compost to generate electricity, produce methane, and create nitrate-rich agricultural fertilizer. This is an inexpensive source of electrical power to be used primarily in rural villages of developing countries. The battery could generate enough wattage to provide users with access to tools such as lighting and computers. The final product will be inexpensive compared to other alternative energy technologies, costing between $2,000 to $5,000 to manufacture.
