Smokeless Field Burner
Energy and Environment

The fact that Kentucky bluegrass is a common agricultural product of Idaho farmers served as the premise for the InvenTeam’s invention. Field burning has been the preferred farming method because it is more economical and practical than other methods, such as tilling. However, burning fields of Kentucky bluegrass releases toxins that cause pollution, which can lead to respiratory ailments. The InvenTeam’s Smokeless Field Burner aims to efficiently burn Kentucky bluegrass field waste, while decreasing pollutant emissions. Design improvements identified by the InvenTeam include providing more oxygen to fuel the burning and using different materials for the fans, so they will resist melting.
