Weight-stabilizing compact stretcher
Healthcare

• An InvenTeam member was inspired to improve the stability of stretchers after participating in a search and rescue training class. • The students interviewed emergency medical technicians and they visited the Hanscom AirForce Base to become familiar with current stretcher designs. • The stretcher, which can be carried like a backpack and folds out to six feet, is made with a polymer backboard and it’s equipped with two weight-stabilizing handles to prevent the patient from falling once secured. • The InvenTeam plans to develop a full-size prototype and put it through tests.
