System to monitor and automate home chicken coops
Food and Agriculture

Dayton, Oregon
2017-2018

The Dayton High School InvenTeam invented an automation platform for a home chicken coop. The platform is designed to monitor environmental variables relevant to egg-laying chicken health and control some of these variables. The system includes a live feed camera view into the coop, a door opener with a programmable timer, and temperature monitor with a fan to automatically cool the coop when temperatures exceed a programmed threshold value. The entire system is designed to be modular allowing for future expansion of more sensors and actuators to help homeowners who may have little experience with raising farm animals manage the health of their chickens.
