Ergonomic rescue system for bariatric patients
Healthcare

The Boy Scout Troop 703 InvenTeam invented a system for extricating morbidly obese patients weighing from 400 to 1,000 lb from buildings while minimizing risk of injury to both the patient and rescue crew. The system allows rescuers to remove patients within 10 minutes from small, cramped spaces with two to four crew members rather than the eight members currently required. The system includes a portable, rapid setup belay anchor point for structurally sound doors or windows in the building. The belay anchor allows for easier, safer lowering of patients down staircases or upper story windows.
