Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

The Valley STEM+ME2 Academy InvenTeam has been working hard these past four weeks trying to bring together a new idea. After facing roadblocks in our previous design, we decided to sit down and re-evaluate our invention’s purpose. After doing more thorough research, we came across patenting similar to what our original invention intended to fulfill and decided to go through a major overhaul. Our new system creates a unique real-time lockdown pattern in correlation to the location of an active shooter.

To ensure that the system we are prototyping is intuitive, we decided to go through active shooter response training that took us through realistic situational examples. We are very thankful to the Canfield Police Department’s Sergeant Scott Weamer for taking his time to break down the process of responding as well as the research that led to that intuitive training.
