Our First Blog - Recap of the Last Few Months

SPANISH RIVER LEMELSON-MIT INVENTEAM SEPTEMBER 2019 During September, The Galleon, our school’s newspaper, wrote about our Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam Application. This provided the school an idea of what our goals were and introduced them to our mission to create a prototype. We also had team meetings to discuss our prototype and the InvenTeam application. Additionally, we also had our Instagram account created and we connected with many students around the school.

OCTOBER 2019 In October we found out that we were one of the 14 High Schools across the United States who got the opportunity to be one of the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeams! We organized everyone in the InvenTeam into their respective groups, and we had a pizza party to celebrate our success! Students started working with their teams and got to meet the people they would be working with during the rest of the year!

NOVEMBER 2019  During November a lot of exciting things happened for our Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam! The District of Palm Beach County made a video featuring us and our prototype. We also had further outreach by contacting Amanda Klarsfeld The Sun Sentinel who wrote about our success and our mission in the upcoming months leading to June. We also met with the Lemelson-MIT Educator Coordinator Anthony Perry who gave us feedback regarding our prototype and Invention Statement.

UPCOMING EVENTS In these few upcoming weeks, we are hoping to continue with further outreach with the community. We are also planning on conducting various events around the school to get the school involved with our mission. Each member of our team is working arduously to make sure that we can deliver on a successful prototype that could aid thousands of lives. Additionally, we are planning to attend Florida International University (FIU) to look at their laboratory and their research with different fabrics. We are really excited about everything we have prepared! THANK YOU FOR READING
