Happy May from Cold Spring Harbor!! The countdown officially begins for EurekaFest!! This month we’ve been finishing our presentation to make sure we’re ready to go on June 10th. In the final steps of our attractant search, we used a CO2 generator combined with Citric acid and baking soda, and reused our school's CO2 sensors from last fall. Unfortunately, the sensors weren’t responding properly so we scratched that. We reevaluated our data from the past months and concluded that Butanoic Acid was the most attractive for ticks, beating Propanoic acid, Hexanoic acid, and our sweetscent solution.
Our plan for after EurekaFest is to continue the development of a trap design. We haven't tested our “active” trap design which includes an autonomous robot. Additionally, we are in the beginning stages of working with Microsoft to get a patent from their #makeWhatsNext award.
