March update from the Gasbuster!

Hey everyone! Gasbusters here! We hope you are all doing well and that the weather is nice!  We had a blast working on our project this month, and hope your month has been just as eventful! Despite it being the shortest month of the year, we managed to pack in a ton of work. We feel incredibly fortunate to have strengthened our connections within the local community and even had the chance to collaborate with some local businesses. Our preparations for the mid-grant tech review have been keeping us busy, and we're eagerly anticipating the opportunity to showcase the progress we've made over the past few months. And fear not, we've remained diligent in keeping our community updated through our regular posts. Don't forget to give us a follow!

This month has been full of surprises and plenty of gas-related humor, especially after we visited a local farm where we acquired barrels and animal waste to gain insight into methane and its real-world applications. We received invaluable advice and even made a new friend along the way – meet Billy, our sump digester! We'll share a picture so you can see him too. In our quest for adventure, we even made trips to Home Depot and our school's engineering department to gather supplies for our prototype. With a plethora of barrels in tow, we worked tirelessly to perfect our invention’s design, and we can't wait to unveil it at our mid-grant tech review.

Speaking of which, we are thrilled to finally showcase our months of hard work during our mid-grant tech review on 2/26. Much of this month has been dedicated to planning the content and logistics of the event to ensure everything runs smoothly. Our group has put in countless hours perfecting our presentation, while our build team has gone above and beyond to ensure our prototype is flawless. The event was a resounding success and included cameos from the Johns Creek City mayor pro-tempore, Dilip Tunki, our school’s assistant principal, and one of our most cherished professors, Dr. Liu. The guest list was very weighty, with 27 attendees, and included many influential people. There was a lot of socializing among us, and they asked a lot of helpful questions and gave us great advice for which we are extremely thankful. We're grateful for the unwavering support and guidance from our mentors, Ms. Lee and Mr. Butler, who have been by our side every step of the way, offering invaluable feedback and advice. It was a night that we will all remember. Two members of our team were also able to present what we showcased at the MGTR to the local Rotary Club privately about the invention to raise awareness and funding for our trip. We also want to thank you, the community, and our school for their support.

In addition to our preparations for the tech review, we've also been hard at work garnering support for our project and cause. We're proud to announce that we've raised over $800 on our GoFundMe campaign from generous members of our community. We're incredibly grateful for the support. Furthermore, our efforts to raise awareness and support for our project have extended beyond fundraising. We've been actively engaging with local organizations to spread the word about our mission to combat methane emissions. It's been encouraging to see the enthusiasm and interest from people who share our commitment to environmental sustainability.

As we reflect on the whirlwind of activities and accomplishments this month, we're reminded of the power of collaboration and determination. Every step forward, every donation received, and every connection made brings us closer to our goal of making a tangible impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Looking ahead, we're excited about the opportunities and challenges that March will bring. With the momentum gained from our achievements this month, we're more determined than ever to push forward, innovate, and create a real-world impact with the work we’ve done.

To everyone who has supported us on this journey – whether through donations, encouragement, or simply following along with our progress – we extend our heartfelt thanks. Together, we're proving that small actions can lead to significant results in the fight against climate change.

And remember, every effort counts in the battle to protect our planet. Let's keep pushing forward, one step at a time. Thank you to everyone who has helped us make so much progress this month and to our team members who work so hard. We cannot wait to bring this prototype to life!
