Technical Update

With the fence this month we are trying to send signals through the fence and read the outputs. To begin we made a pulse generator which sent a pulse through a coil. To do this we created and implemented our own program, using an arduino and a potentiometer. The arduino is used to run the system and the potentiometer is used for changing the pulse. We then read the signals with the oscilloscope. We experimented sending pulses for different lengths of time (in milliseconds) and with different voltages. We tested times of 1-1000 milliseconds with 20 milliseconds increments and voltages of 1-30 volts with 10 volt increments. In the end, we concluded that neither of these variables were outrightly relevant.

Administrative Update

The past month has been a whirlwind of activity in preparation for our high school VillageFest (and ultimately the Lemelson-MIT EurekaFest) exhibition. To prepare for this, we have designed and ordered the banner that displays our progress, and have split up the liability forms and uploaded them to the TeamAccess website. As soon as we can, we will begin to work and practice the presentation.

Communications Update

Within the past month we have continued to update our social media pages and reached out to our fantastic donors. We have successfully raised over nine-hundred dollars! We plan on continuing outreach for the Current Invents project and preparing for the trip to MIT in June.

Financial Update

In the financial group we have been keeping track of our spending and are buying things  responsibly by only purchasing necessities. This month we are down to the triple digits as far as remaining funds go, which is a good thing because we are keeping up with our spending goals. This month almost all of our spending went into the fence, especially with Eureka Fest coming up, as we are adding the final touches to our fence so we can have a presentable product that we, Current Invents, are proud to present to the public.
