First Test planting

Today we recovered, sorted eelgrass shoots and rhizomes - placing them in our disks.  We then took them out to Black Rock Beach in Nahant and did a "walk out" test planting.   In this testing, we were looking at sink rate and sink orientation.  We also took measurements so that we could measure any motion due to wave action.  Each disk had a gently sink rate with a really nice lateral glide.  The water was too murky for the storm that came though yesterday, so we could not witness impact with the bottom.  We will be back in a day to do a visual inspection.  Other data we will be collecting will include substrate coverage, disk movement as well as transplant rooting.  On a side note: the water was cold. 41degrees.
