Febuary blog update

This month has been full of progress.  We hosted multiple community members at our Mid-Grant technical review. The Mid-Grant technical review is our halfway point for the project. We presented to community members as well as MIT representatives. The presentation included our story, why this project matters and our two designs.

The community gave feedback about the project. This influenced our decision on which design to choose. Our two options being the Chain and flight system and the Archimedes Corkscrew. With the waterwheel as an optional addition to the Corkscrew. Both designs had their pros and cons. But in the end the corkscrew was the better option.

The corkscrew design

During preparation for our presentation, Mr. Hill from Toastmasters International paid us a visit. He helped us improve our presentation skills. We also had four of our members visit city council to receive the city of Sparks commendation. We were also gifted a congressional recognition by Mark E. Amodei, a congressman.

Our new focus is to complete our chosen design. All of our sub-committees have been assigned specific jobs on a certain problem involving the prototype.
