Hello from Cold Spring Harbor!! This month we’ve been busy presenting our research at The Mid Grant Technical review and our school’s Steamanities night.

Every year, our school hosts a night to introduce young students to different topics of Stem. This year, we got to meet future scientists from our local primary school, Goose hill, and elementary schools, Lloyd harbor and West Side. We brought in our prototypes and explained to the kids what our research project is about and our future plans. This was also another chance for us to show off our amazing polo shirts 😉!! The picture below shows Isabella explaining our attractant research.

Our Mid Grant Technical Review went ticktastic!! We had around 17 participants including Superintendent of CSH schools Jill M. Gierasch, Assistant superintendent for curriculum and information Genevieve LaGattuta, and Director of STEM Brian Taylor. Participants were very enthusiastic for our project and even offered to test our prototype on their property. We were also given the idea of including Tesla valves in our trap. This would allow us to passively create a one-way path for our attractants to escape from our trap and into the environment. In the picture below, Michelle and Keira are enthusiastically presenting Our Future Vision.

Finally, we are in the process of filing a provisional patent.

See you next month!!
