Happy Holidays from Cold Spring Harbor!! After finishing our passive trap's prototype, we are currently testing attractants to determine the best way to trap ticks. We did a literature review and have concluded that 2.5% Benzoic Acid, CO2, 1.25% Benzoic Acid, 1.25% Salicylic Acid, 1.25% Ammonium Hydroxide, and 1.25% Methyl Salicylate have been the most effective and common tick attractants. In the picture on the right, we are collecting data on the concentration of CO2 over time in a sealed container with a yeast-based CO2 generator. (Michelle, Kelly, and Keira)

Meanwhile, our communications team has been hard at work! We recorded an interview with Long Island News Radio to showcase how we developed our project and what our future goals are. It is going to be aired on January 27th at 10:30 am. Be sure to check it out! Additionally, we're currently working with Lloyd Harbor life, a local magazine, to produce an article for the cover of the February issue!! Finally, our Instagram (@cshinventeam) has reached 76 followers! Slow but steady, we are going to make our way up to that pizza party!
