Intro

In May, the CCDS InvenTeam worked to finalize our project. The technical team collected data for our artificial intelligence model, worked on a case for the device, and on a new circuit board. While the technical team worked on our prototype, the communications team created materials for presentations, such as brochures and posters, and informed the student body about our work. It was a series of steps towards being prepared for EurekaFest as a team.

Tech

In our last month before presenting at EurekaFest, the technical team needed to make finishing touches to our prototype. This included improvements to the artificial intelligence model by testing its function and loading additional data. With the completion of this work, our model can now detect the presence of cars, which was our goal for it to be ready to present.

Additionally, the technical team created a case for the hardware component of our device. We 3D printed new versions of the case that enable the lasers to be adjusted in accordance with state-specific legal passing distances.

Communications

Our schedule was busy, but the team made time to deliver another presentation at an Upper School assembly. We shared insights from the City Council meeting we attended with the student body and faculty. The presentation was well received and many words of encouragement and praise were offered to the team for our hard work.

In preparation for EurekaFest, the team finalized the design and printing of our large, 30x72 inch, poster to ensure a visually striking presence at the event. Along with the poster, we made custom t-shirts for our team, and printed flyers to distribute at EurekaFest, which will help to further promote our work. The CCDS InvenTeam is so excited for the next part of this journey, which will include EurekaFest!
