Beacon in progress & Community Outreach
Endotherm has been getting more involved with our local community as well as spreading the word of vehicular heatstroke as a part of our awareness campaign. We presented at Saint Ambrose University for National Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day to help spread the news of our project. We were also given the great opportunity to have a stand at the Quad Cities Engineering and Science Council at John Deere’s World Headquarters in Moline, IL. Currently, the team is working on the beacon. The beacon is a device that will be located within the family vehicle that will serve as a communication bridge between the anklet that will go on the child. The beacon will be the device that will detect if the child is within a dangerous distance to the family vehicle without the parent present. The beacon is also the device that will notify the parent if the child is in the family vehicle and the parent is leaving the car’s proximity.
