The eardrum can become damaged because of traumatic head injuries, blast injuries, and chronic ear infections. Only around 10% of patients with damaged ear drums visit a professional capable of treating these injuries.

PhonoGraft is a 3D printed device matching the structure of the ear drum. Once PhonoGraft is implanted, the material degrades and is replaced with human tissue, enabling sound conduction in high and low frequencies. It can be placed in a clinical setting without the use of general anesthesia using the same billing code, lowering cost and allowing surgeons to perform more procedures each day.
