Alexander Richter
Alexander Richter is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University. The inventor is passionate about using ethical science to add value to society. He is committed to bringing to market game-changing innovation and technological solutions to address urgent and grand challenges in global food security.
Alexander approaches scientific advances with an entrepreneurial attitude within the framework of environmental responsibility. In 2013, Alexander co-founded BENANOVA Inc., an NC State startup focused on developing products solving pressing challenges within the agrochemical and cosmetics industry.
Alexander is devoted to mentoring the next generation of engineering entrepreneurs and is active in youth leadership roles, mentoring senior design teams, and supervising undergraduate researchers. He plans to extend his mentorship role by offering additional industry-focused senior design projects, summer internships and jobs for engineering graduates at BENANOVA Inc.
Alexander earned his BS in Environmental/Biotechnology Engineering with an emphasis on Environmental Engineering at MCI University—The Entrepreneurial School, Austria, in 2009. He received his MS in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2012. His PhD project is in the group of Prof. Orlin Velev.
