Motorized wheelchairs can make movement for people with mobility related disabilities significantly easier. However, people with conditions like ALS and MS are not always able to navigate using a traditional joystick.
Another issue surrounding wheelchairs in hospitals is the risk of transmission of communicable diseases from porters to patients.
To address this issue, Seung and Maya invented an autonomous power wheelchair. It is able to navigate by using sensors to detect its surroundings and using that data to create a map within its system.
