Join Us to Experience the Power and Promise of Invention Education
We invite teachers and administrators to participate in this professional development workshop. The workshop will orient you to invention education
and ways the invention education process has been brought together with a clean energy focus. The program is centered around Lemelson’MIT’s Inventing Smart Solutions curriculum, a dynamic program for high school students. And while this event uses clean energy as a focus, the process can work with many other subjects and topics.
This program supports educators by offering step-by-step guidance to implement the curriculum in the classroom. We will share two examples of how this strategy is working at two high schools: Haverhill High School and Watertown High School.
Educators will receive insight into how to integrate interdisciplinary topics into their classroom from other educators in their cohort,
Lemelson-MIT professionals, and external collaborators. At this workshop you will:
- Learn how to support students using an invention lens to find problems in your communities
- Gain an overall understanding of how to facilitate student‑led invention programs that result in technical solutions to problems important to them
- Develop an action plan for utilizing the curriculum in your classroom
