Pneumatic, auto-deployment system for emergency position-indicating radio beacons on fishing vessels
Energy and Environment

• Emergency position-indicating radio beacons (EPIRB) are tracking transmitters, which aid in the detection and location of a boat, aircraft or passenger in distress. • Current EPIRB designs deploy when wet and often get caught in the vessel’s gear; the InvenTeams’ design addresses this problem by launching the EPIRB 40 to 50 feet away from the vessel to avoid obstructions. • In March 2008 the InvenTeam presented its invention to the Associated Fisheries of Maine in South Berwick, Maine.
