Our team has been productive this month in terms of our community outreach and inventing process as each subteam has been working hard on their respective tasks. Invention Education has been valued by our team greatly! A group of our team presented to the Antelope Valley College (AVC) Academic Senate to discuss partnering with SOAR to create an Invention Education pathway at the community college. They pitched the idea of implementing a program similar to ours where students from different majors would collaborate to uplift the community by creating an invention that solves a local and pressing problem. The presentation our team gave was exemplary and informative which aided the engagement of the audience. This experience provided further understanding and training for our future presentation at EurekaFest.

As EurekaFest approaches, our device’s essential elements are coming together. Our Technology Team is currently studying and implementing the principles of McKibben’s Muscle. They have also found the ideal materials for the band when regarding comfort and sustainability. Another branch of the Technology Team is working on circuitry and how to integrate user-controlled LED functions. Referring back to our team's focus on sustainability, our Sustainability Team which focuses on researching and properly utilizing materials to their maximum potential, has passed their Sustainability Test and Certification. They learned about how transparency is key when advertising that an invention is “green.” As well, members of the Design Team have been working on creating business cards for every team member to hand out at MIT in June and network with prospective mentors and partners. The Communications Team has specifically asked team members to provide adjectives such as mindful, poised, enthusiastic, assertive, etc. Alongside making purchases and filing expenses, our finance team has been putting their efforts into reaching out to companies for donations.

We are excited about upcoming community presentations and outreach opportunities to present what we are doing to our community and other organizations. With EurekaFest on the way, suspense and excitement abound!
