A Month of Experimentation

This month, we have been working on more hands on preperation. We have done some testing and experimented quite a bit, gathering data for our prototype. The experiment that we mentioned last week  proved to be unsuccessful. When we tried to test the strength of the smaller vacuum, the Dust Buster, it failed because the strength was too low to register on the scale. Additionally, we've also received a decibel meter and have tested its use. We had multiple trials of the testing under different situations. We kept the room silent and tested the meter by either talking, playing music on speakers, or popping balloons at point blank.

We've also begun working on a container for the unit, but unfortunately when composed of cardboard, it wasn't as sturdy as we would have liked it to be. As a result, we decided to use wood instead since it would be a lot sturdier.

We also plan to create a prototype by utilizing a 3D printer to create the outer shell of our unit which would be connected to a toy train. The purpose of the toy train and the shell is to emulate how the finished product will behave while attached to an actual NYC MTA train. We expect the testing to not generate our expected results but it will provide useful data to us in future tests.
