Sam Estabrooks

Event and Program Assistant

Sam is a skilled molecular biologist and “jack-of-all-trades” who currently serves as the Lemelson-MIT Program’s Event and Program Assistant. Though primarily trained as a laboratory scientist, Sam stepped in at the beginning of 2025 to assist LMIT with logistical planning for the program’s professional development sessions and annual InvenTeams EurekaFest® celebration. Previously, he served as an Instructor for LMIT’s 2024 “Rail Innovation in Action,” in partnership with the California State Railroad Museum Foundation, and as a Subject Matter Expert for LMIT’s 2020 “Biotech in Action,” in partnership with the Biogen Community Lab.

Prior to joining LMIT, Sam conducted his doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh, where he examined the molecular pathology of cystic fibrosis and published several research articles in his field. Soon after defending his doctoral dissertation, he joined a prominent intellectual property law firm in Boston where he learned to write and file U.S. patent applications for emerging biotechnologies.

At LMIT, Sam’s methodical approach and keen attention to detail help ensure that all of the program’s events run smoothly.
