Cooperative cruise control for hybrid commuter cars

We will invent a system that communicates the physical conditions (such as speed, direction, acceleration, and location) of a 1/10 scale radio control car to four other identical vehicles that will be equipped with microprocessor controllers. Using optical or RF subsystems, the lead car will transmit the aforementioned data to the trailing vehicles, enabling them to closely follow the lead vehicle without collision or human intervention. We hope to eventually integrate this system into full scale commuter vehicles which will be available as a functioning consumer product for any driver.
