Unlocking device to help children with neurodevelopmental disablities in schools

The Williamston High School InvenTeam created a device to help students with autism or neurodevelopmental disabilities to open their lockers. This portable device will not alter the locker, unlike existing locker-assisting devices. It contains a 12V rechargeable battery, along with a stepper motor and a control board that assist with the precise turning of the locker dial. The device also contains an accelerometer that allows the student to attach it in any position, and uses optical character recognition (OCR) technology to recognize the starting position before the combination sequence begins.
