Lemelson-MIT and partners MED-EL Medical Electronics, Deaf Kids Code and Invention Convention hosted a webinar on October 19, 2019, that offered insights into the ideas4ears children’s invention contest. The webinar explained how the contest encourages children to come up with solutions for people living with hearing loss, and it included discussion from a past winner. MED-EL, who organizes ideas4ears, is a global innovation leader in hearing loss solutions, its founders having been the first to develop the microelectronic multi-channel cochlear implants. The contest was created to “improve children’s understanding of the challenges associated with hearing loss and deafness as well as the benefits of treatment.”
