Massachusetts STEM Summit
November 13th, two members of our team and Ms. Brooks were invited to represent the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam Program at a booth at the 10th annual Massachusetts STEM Summit. The Massachusetts STEM Summit is an event that brings together each year over 1,200 educators, students, business leaders and government officials to network, collaborate, and discuss the progress of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in Massachusetts.
Our team was given a booth at the resource room, which featured 40 exhibits and demonstrations of STEM-based projects across Massachusetts. We shared the booth with NCIIA, Lemelson’s “sister” foundation. The two representatives for NCIIA offered to help us with any 3D printing we may need this year. Karen and Lauren presented and explained the team’s invention and answered any questions about the Lemelson-MIT foundation and our project specifically. It was a fantastic opportunity to share our progress with the Massachusetts STEM community.
We were also able to hear two very inspiring speeches by Deval Patrick, Governor of Massachusetts, and Congressman Joe Kennedy. Both praised Massachusetts’s accomplishments in STEM within the last year and looked optimistically towards the state’s future in STEM fields.
