Poolesville High School InvenTeam
The Poolesville High School InvenTeam invented a money sorter to help people with blindness or visual impairment sort and store U.S. paper currency. The device uses the infrared strips embedded in each bill to identify denominations. Sorts are completed in under three seconds and bills are stored by denomination in a detachable, wallet-like device. The entire system weighs less than eight ounces and can be stored in a bag or purse.
